Mitchelstown Cave one of Europe’s major show caves. Guided tours have been conducted through this natural wonder since the discovery in 1833. On the tour your group will visit massive caverns in which you are surrounded by indescribable Dripstone formations, Stalagmites, Stalactites and huge calcite columns. On arrival at the cave entrance your group will be greeted by your tour guide who will accompany you through 1 kilometer of cave where you will learn about earth science, how caves form and the cave ecosystem. After the tour you group will take part in a number of activities with your tour guide. Students will get hands on experience with fossils and learn about the chemistry of cave formation.
