The DSPCA is Irelands largest and oldest Animal Welfare Charity located in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains.  The Education Strategy acknowledges that animal welfare education and learning for both children and adults will be essential to achieving the Charities vision where every animal is treated with compassion and respect, making it socially unacceptable to mistreat and be cruel to any animal.

Through the education services, the DSPCA focus on promoting kindness and empathy towards all animals and how caring for the environment is vital.  The Shelter is built on 32 areas of land and temporarily houses over 500 animals. The site includes wildflower meadows, 2,500 recently planted native Irish trees, natural hedgerows, integrated wetland systems, a pet memorial garden and a biodiversity walk around the perimeter of the site.
