WexSci, the Wexford Science Festival is new this year. Building on a smaller event last year we are delighted to offer a science festival in County Wexford to promote science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) in 2018.

The Festival is led by Wexford County Council in partnership with I.T Carlow,  Waterford Wexford ETB, EPA, BIM and funded by SFI. A weeklong innovative festival is promised, with many events, in libraries, community and family resource centres, in schools and colleges and at The Street Exhibition Gallery at Wexford County Council, Carricklawn, Wexford. Events will be fun and engaging, there will be something to interest people of all ages and knowledge.

Wexford has been identified by research from SFI as a low intervention county in terms of STEM participation. With this in mind, we have developed a festival programme to stimulate interest and debate about STEM. Our aim at WexSci is to encourage people to engage with science in a fun and interactive way. We want to talk to the amateur and the professional, the curious and all wishing to follow a career in science. We hope to engage and inspire people of all ages, and to promote awareness and understanding of the importance and relevance of STEM to everyday life.

We invite young people and adults to take part in the events across County Wexford each day during the festival. Featuring some of the best national and international scientists and researchers, we will demonstrate and discuss a broad range of subjects, from cyberology to meteorology, from neuroscience to nanoscience. There will be plenty of opportunities to learn hands-on how to be a laboratory technician, marine biologist, agronomist, immunologist, environmentalist, computer scientist, energy conservator and much more.

Everyone is invited to visit and explore the many science stands and demonstrations in the WexSci Science Showcase at Wexford County Council, Carricklawn, Wexford on Saturday, 17th November.

There is something for everyone at WexSci, do take part, and bring your family and friends. We look forward to meeting you.
