SCHOOL TOURS - GARDEN BIODIVERSITY (DSPM accredited

A taste of biodiversity hidden in Dublin City takes the hunt for wildlife knowledge to the outdoors!

A guided garden tour with plant identification games including: Which Part do you Eat? And practical mathematical activities, which reinforce scientific enquiry and group problem solving.

This tour is hands on from the start. Rolling up their sleeves, all students will be kept busy planting, they will learn about the importance of invertebrates and how to identify them, set out on a bug hunt and finally explore the garden’s unique features.

SUMMER TERM WORKSHOPS

COLOUR WISE WORKSHOP: (3rd – 6th class)

Intricate, fun science experiments exploring the interrelationship between colour and light. Students undertake various experiments including chromatography, the exploration of white light and it’s relationship with colour, and more. The emphasis will be on exploration, questioning, scientific methodology and discovery.

WATER WISE WORKSHOP: (1st – 6th class)

A fun, hands-on workshop on the theme of water, and the growing global need to reduce water consumption and pollution. The workshop consists of a number of experiential activities, empowering students to learn about water issues and to take action to reduce their water footprint at home and in their schools.

In this workshop students question why water conservation is important and where they can make the biggest impact.

This workshop is tailored for all classes no matter the age group, to ensure it complements what each teacher may have already covered in the curriculum.
