Programmes with Industry

SFI Research Centres Programme 2012

SFI has launched the new Research Centres Programme 2012. SFI Research Centres will link scientists and engineers in partnerships across academia and industry to address crucial research questions, foster the development of new and existing Irish-based technology companies, attract industry that could make an important contribution to Ireland and its economy, and expand educational and career opportunities in Ireland in science and engineering.

SFI anticipates allocating up to €16m (direct costs) in funding across all awards made in the 2012 Research Centres Programme per annum, in the period 2013-2019 – a total commitment of approximately €100m (direct costs) over six years. This is a significant and substantial commitment from SFI’s budget so only proposals with the potential to deliver both research excellence and high impact in areas of national importance will be funded.
