Applications for Science@Sea research vessel-based training courses now open.
The call for applications for Science@Sea research vessel-based training courses for 2013 is now open. These practical two-day courses will take place on board the national research vessel RV Celtic Voyager in waters off Cork from 1st to 6th March 2013.
Courses are aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students of marine-related science, technology and engineering, as well as researchers and professionals, as part of continuous professional development.
Science@Sea is specifically designed to provide participants with the skills and experience necessary to carry out offshore operations using the core disciplines of oceanography, geosciences, benthic ecology and fisheries biology. Teaching focuses on practical, cross-disciplinary skills such as sample collection and processing, operation of equipment and instrumentation and data acquisition and processing. Other areas essential to working at sea are addressed including survey design and planning, safety at sea and post-survey analysis and assessment.

Completed applications should be received no later than Wednesday 13th February 2013.
Please note a course fee of €300 applies for those in full time employment and €50 for students in full-time education. Participants are liable for their own transportation and accommodation costs.
