Ireland No. 1 in the world in Molecular Genetics & Genomics
The Life Sciences journal Lab Times has ranked Ireland number 1 in the world for the quality of its Molecular Genetics & Genomics research[1]. Based on analysis of the benchmark Thomson Reuters Web of ScienceTM Irish research papers received 61.4 citations on average, prompting the journal Lab Times to refer to Ireland as “small but impressive”. The next closest in this category were Switzerland, with 44.4 citations per article followed by England, with 41.1 citations per article and Austria with 38.7. The USA had a ranking 36.2 (9th) and the overall EU average was 30.6 citations per article. Ireland has continued to increase its scientific standing internationally and is in the top 20 countries in scientific global rankings [2] for quality of research output. In addition to the No 1 slot in Molecular Genetics & Genomics Ireland ranks third and eighth in the fields of Immunology [3] and Materials Science [4] respectively Table of Ranking by Citations per Article Molecular Genetics & Genomics
