Discover Primary Science and Maths Summer Courses

Each Summer SFI Discover Primary Science & Maths (DPSM) programme, in conjunction with The European Space Education Office (ESERO) Ireland, offers a number of popular summer courses in SFI Discover Centres and Education Centres across Ireland. These courses are for primary teachers and are recognised by the Department of Education and Skills for extra personal vacation (EPV) days.

Each course looks at teaching science and maths through the theme of space, a topic that excites and fascinates children and adults alike and we have received fantastic feedback from participating teachers in previous years. Please note that in 2019 teachers will be offered places on two 5-day professional development courses on a first come first served basis

This will be offered again in 2019 at CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory and Dunsink Observatory.

This course assists participants in using teaching approaches that develop numeracy skills in an integrated way across the curriculum for junior classes. This course will use space as a cross-curricular theme and develop skills in many curricular areas. The course focuses on inquiry-based learning. School Self Evaluation aims will be covered with an emphasis on evaluating and developing Science Skills.

Dates: 1st to 5th July 2019
