Dr Wendy McLoone (nee McMinn) was appointed as Scientific Programme Manager to SFI in September 2006.

Dr McLoone joined SFI from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast where she was a Senior Lecturer in Chemical Engineering. During her 8 years at Queen’s her research interests were in the areas of microwave processing, dielectric property measurement, encapsulation and power ultrasound. She has published over 70 papers on these topics in refereed international journals and conferences, and has supervised numerous PhD and MSc students. Dr McLoone also taught a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses to chemical engineering students, and was actively involved in promoting engineering and science among school children.

Prior to taking up her position in Queen’s, Dr McLoone was a Process Control Engineer in Eli Lilly S.A. - Irish Branch based in Kinsale, Co. Cork.

Dr McLoone holds a BEng (1993) and PhD (1997) in Chemical Engineering, both from Queen’s University Belfast.
