Dr Janice Murtagh joined SFI as an Associate Scientific Programme Officer in November 2008.
Dr Murtagh graduated from UCD with a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology and also obtained her PhD in Pharmacology at UCD through studying the molecular mechanisms associated with mammary gland development. Dr Murtagh took up a post-doctoral position in Albert Einstein College of Medicine Cancer Center researching the anti-angiogenic mechanisms of microtubule stabilizing agents used in the treatment of breast cancer in 2003 and, in 2005, was awarded a New York State Department of Health Post-Doctoral Fellowship. In 2006 she took up a position in Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York to study the selective anti-cancer effects of Vitamin A in the breast.
Prior to her appointment in SFI Dr Murtagh held the post of Commercialisation Specialist in Life Sciences and Food Commercialisation with Enterprise Ireland.
